meet the aguilars: giving thanks LA style

we're supposed to spend thanksgiving with my family this year since we spent thanksgiving in maui last year with the aguilars. but as i'm too big to travel, my sis and her fam drove down instead. it was great to spend time with them and have maki play with the gonzales cousins. we spent most of the day at my cousin's house in glendora where we held the orquiza thanksgiving party. but luckily, we were also able to squeeze in thanksgiving mass and lunch with the aguilars and laurels. definitely more convenient when both sides are in so cal. it was gluttony - eating after eating then more eating. it didn't stop on thanksgiving day... we ate a LOT for several days! i also baked a lot. i really enjoy baking. my cousin requested peach pie so i baked 2 of those. i also wanted to clone my fave levain bakery cookies - dark chocolate peanut butter chip. it didn't turn out like levain but it was still a hit among the family members (lucky me they never had levain - haha)! i also baked 2 loaves of banana nut bread. brought one to my mom's that saturday since the orquizas got together again and left the other loaf at home for the santos fam get-together. my real dad, half bro and his fam came over here to visit us. overall, the weekend was something we were definitely thankful for as we spent it with loved ones.
