i felt like i was pregnant for so long! but that feeling suddenly ended during the wee hours on january 30th. i felt strong contractions around 12:40am. so strong it woke me up. had pressure on my rectal area. i squeezed mik's arm hard and told him that the baby is coming. the contractions weren't regular though. went from every 11 minutes to 8, 11, 5, 3, 2, 3, 5 then consistently every 5 minutes for almost an hour. after the second 5, the pressure around the rectal area was so strong that i told mik we def had to go. it took us 25 min to drive to the hospital. on our way there, i called the dr's office and katie happened to be the dr on call. talked to her for a few minutes before she said she would page dr. brown. when i was walking up to the 3rd floor of the hospital, i wanted to sit down so badly. it was hard to be walking/standing. i felt like i had to go! after checking in, i was put in L&D room within 5 min. apparently triage was busy - 6 pregnant women just checked in before me. i think katie also called the hospital and told them to make sure they took care of me. the nurse checked me and i was 5cm dilated. OMG that's it? i wanted an epidural badly. i was breathing heavily and thought i was going to puke at one point. the nurse took a long time to put in an IV on me (she tried the left arm and poked around for a while then switched to the right hand) and by the time she was done, i moaned during one of my contractions and the anesth
esiologist was nowhere to be found (he was there while the nurse was looking for a vein). where is he?!! someone look for him! i wanted to panic... he finally showed up and after he put in the epidural, i was in my happy place. :) epidural is my best friend. dr brown showed up right after and checked me. i was 7cm dilated but bag is still intact. she asked the doula to break it in one hour but it ended up breaking on its own right after she left the room! it was this huge gush of water. so strange... i didn't feel that with my first pregnancy. it was more like trickles of fluid down my leg with maki. i was also shaking a lot. they said it was because of the transition. after about 2 1/2 hours, i was 10cm dilated. i was still shaking. at this point, i've only pressed the epidural button 2-3 times but i was numb from waist down. i was scared that i wouldn't be able to push bec i couldn't feel the contractions. but the nurse told me when to push and push i did.
got him out after 5 pushes, 3 contractions within 5 minutes! i didn't feel ANY pain whatsoever. it was unbelievable!!! no stitch. no tear. no swelling. no ring of fire. he came out 9lbs 2oz and 21in long. big baby! ezekiel paul aguilar was born on 1/30 at 6:28am. dr brown said she'll def cancel my induction appt the next day and make dinner plans. haha. i held ezee in my arms - skin to skin. i couldn't believe this big baby came out of me. WHOA! i couldn't believe i am now a mother of 2. this baby looks a little like maki but different too. mik was overwhelmed with emotions and had a meltdown. it was so sweet.... he saw a lot of the child birth this time.
i thought my delivery was super easy since it was only 5 min but katie told me that dr. brown considered it a difficult child birth. apparently, she had to do the "mcroberts maneuver" because of shoulder dystocia. no wonder one of the nurses told mik that she was taking over my right leg for the last 2 pushes. they had to push my legs all the way back to get the shoulder out. yikes! just glad that baby got out without any major problems, just a bruised face.
ezee was sleeping and spitting up most of the first day. he didn't eat much... this time around, i didn't have to put a dozen things in my granny mesh underwear. just the pad and they gave me the plastic squeeze bottle (american version of "tabo"). after the epidural wore off, back came my pelvic pain. but i think it's my pelvic separation that makes it possible for me to push babies out fast! pelvic pain was so bad that i had to take percocet a few times on top of the motrin. :(
maki met ezee the first day around 6:30pm. the nurse brought ezee into the room and he gave kuya maki some gifts - two trucks, a big bro photo album and a sticker pad. maki looked a tiny bit upset and was eyeing ezee for a long time. he called him baby and gave him a fly kiss but didn't want to touch, hug or kiss him. we'll have to make sure to tend to maki first and foremost because he is older. hope he adjusts to the new baby well. i was almost in tears because i have this mommy guilt of having another baby so soon - when maki is still a baby himself. like i didn't give him enough time to be my baby. :( i know it's natural and i'll get over it... i really hope and pray that because they are so close in age that they will be best friends.
i didn't know it was possible to love another baby as much as i love maki but i do. i really do. i can't wait to bond with him and watch him grow. he's our last baby so i'm savoring every minute with him. trying to take a lot of pics and videos. wish i could bottle up that baby smell. i've forgotten how nice it is to have a baby. they smell soooooo good, skin and hair extremely soft... he's chunky so he's super cuddly. i love how he makes weird faces and each smile melts my heart even if it is because of gas. i love holding him and just staring at his angelic face. if someone told me i would be a mother of 2 boys, i wouldn't have believed them. but here i am... and loving it. now my family is complete. the 4 of us. me and my boys. i'm queen of the house! can't wait for the fun adventures with my husband and 2 kids. thanks for reading our journey -- buckle up and enjoy the ride!
